Overview
Alliance is seeking two Ripon College students to serve as paid interns for the fall and spring semesters in 2026/2027. Interns will serve as contributing researchers, writers and designers for a company history book to be published in late 2027/first quarter 2028. Interns will be credited as contributing authors on the final book.
These positions will report to the Alliance Communications and Corporate Giving Manager.
Interns will also work under the supervision of a professor, who will ensure they are meeting accepted standards for historical accuracy, source citation, and documentation.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain professional historical research and writing experience and author credit.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
You will dedicate an average of 15 hours of time per week. Some of this time will be on site at Alliance while some of the work, especially the writing, can be done remotely.
The company will provide access to primary source material that includes company records, newsletters, photos and team member interviews. You will use these primary sources as well as secondary sources to research and write content for a book detailing Alliance Laundry System's history for the past 120 years.
As you conduct research using the company's primary source material, you will help catalogue, organize and prepare the materials for storage.
All work will be owned exclusively by Alliance Laundry Systems, and the company will have final approval of all text and other content.

Education
Successful candidates will ideally be pursuing a course of study in journalism, writing, history, historical research or a related field.
Preferred Junior or Senior status at the start of the internship.
