- Internship - Summer 2026
Description
Disciplined Growth Investors (DGI) is accepting applications for a paid internship for the summer of 2026.
We are looking for people who are genuinely curious about fundamental long-term investing: how businesses create value over years, not weeks or quarters. You don’t need a specific major or a traditional finance background. What matters most to us is high agency and intellectual honesty: you take ownership, move work forward without being asked, and you’re clear about what you know, what you don’t, and what you’re still figuring out.
You should be comfortable testing your views against the facts, updating them quickly, and admitting mistakes without ego. If you learn fast, ask good questions, and enjoy working on hard problems with no obvious right answer, you’ll fit in here.
As a summer analyst, you’ll work closely with our investment, technology, and client teams on projects that ultimately help us make better decisions. Historically, DGI has hosted up to four interns each summer, so you’ll likely work alongside (and learn from) a small group of peers with different backgrounds and interests.
Depending on your skills and interests, your work may include:
- Conduct fundamental company research: business model, unit economics, competitive advantages, management quality
- Develop and refine investment theses, including key milestones and risks
- Assess market opportunities: TAM sizing, growth drivers, industry structure, and competitive landscape
- Research broader markets and the economy: major trends, regimes, and factors relevant to our portfolio
- Build financial models and valuation frameworks, and present investment recommendations
- Analyze proprietary investment data to test ideas and challenge our process and philosophy
- Build and maintain internal data systems: clean, organize, and improve databases and information workflows
- Write scripts to automate workflows and aggregate proprietary/third-party data for analysis
- Create dashboards and visualizations to make insights easier to track, question, and share
We do not require specific experience; most skills can be learned onsite. However, an introductory understanding of the following is encouraged before you arrive. Selected candidates will receive access to online resources (accounting, excel, modeling, etc.).
- Accounting
- Finance/Economics
- Excel
- FactSet/Bloomberg
- SharePoint
- Salesforce
- Tableau / Power BI
- Python / Matlab / etc.
Applications open each year on December 15 and close on January 15 at 11:59 PM CT. We only consider candidates who apply within that window and who follow all application instructions.
Due to high interest and to keep the process fair, we’re not able to offer informational interviews with candidates during December and January. We receive more requests than we can accommodate and can’t guarantee we’ll be able to speak with everyone individually.
The ability to work regular working hours in downtown Minneapolis is required. This internship is unlikely to lead directly to a full-time position at DGI. That said, past interns have gone on to build successful careers in investing and related fields, and we aim for the experience here to be a meaningful step in that direction.
