We are seeking a motivated Application Support Intern to join our Production/Application Support team for the summer. This role provides hands-on exposure to real-world enterprise systems, incident management, and operational support in a fast-paced environment. The intern will work closely with experienced support engineers to help maintain the stability, availability, and performance of critical business applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in IT operations, production support, DevOps, or software systems reliability.
Assist with monitoring and supporting production applications to ensure system availability and performance
Participate in incident management activities, including triage, investigation, and documentation
Help analyze application logs, alerts, and metrics to identify issues and trends
Support service request fulfillment and basic troubleshooting tasks under supervision
Document known issues, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and QA teams during issue resolution
Learn and follow ITIL / operational best practices (incident, problem, and change management)
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, automation ideas, or process enhancements
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
As a full-time employee, we would require 3-5 years of experience, however as part of the BMO campus program, we are looking for motivated individuals with a strong desire to learn.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
Basic understanding of operating systems (Linux and/or Windows) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS - basic level)
Willingness to learn and work in a production support environment
Understanding of Information Technology operating processes used for systems to ensure effective delivery including but not limited to IT Operations mandatory operating standards for monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Knowledge of support and operations practice, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
Technical and/or business functional knowledge of systems, tools, timing, and dependencies.
Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.
Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.
Collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.
Influence skills - In-depth.
Salary:
$49,500.00 - $91,300.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
